Green smoothies are the superheroes of the anti-inflammatory diet because they make it easy to ingest large amounts of green leaves in a short period of time. The taste of these smoothies is, however, usually not too popular with children (and even some adults …) who generally prefer sweet smoothies based on fruit or berries.
In this recipe we use green bananas to give the smoothie a sweeter taste and avocado to make the consistency creamy – perfect for serving in a bowl with any topping.
The bananas also contribute with added plant fibres in the form of inulin and pectin. Vitamin C from the lemon gives the immune system a boost, while the spinach leaves contain a whole range of useful vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
2 green bananas
1 avocado
½ squeezed lemon
1 handful of baby spinach
1/2 dl water or almond milk
Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until the consistency is smooth. Serve in a bowl and top with chopped nuts or granola and coconut flakes. Yummy!
